A birth filled day…

Today we recorded a Podcast! Lorri Walker, owner/director of South Coast Midwifery & Women’s Health Center, came by to record our first joint Podcast. The recording is somewhat of an interview with her since you haven’t yet met her. I think you will enjoy what she has to say. Boy, it is definitely easier to do a Podcast together than by myself! Look for it linked on the menu under Podcasts or on iTunes (make sure you subscribe!).

Later in the evening I attended the Doulas Association of Southern California awards banquet where many fine doulas, childbirth educators, lactation education, midwives, and physicians were honored for their work with the women and babies in our area. It was so great to put faces to names I’ve seen on the Internet and reconnect with many I hadn’t seen since the days I was “gonnabe” a midwife 9 years ago! Wow, time flies! Read more

Wow, I’m in Midwifery Today magazine!

You all know I’ve moved. I let my subscription lapse between moves because I wasn’t exactly sure what my forwarding address would be and didn’t want to fuss with address changes later for a relatively pricey subscription. Over last weekend I attended the Gentle Birth World Congress as a a midwife and co-presenter of a great new non-hormonal contraceptive called Fem Cap. Midwifery Today was at a booth nearby so I ponied up my new subscription, got the current issue as a bonus after explaining to the representative I’d let it lapse and missed the summer issue. Well the nice lady at the booth must have remembered that so she mailed me a summer issue out of the goodness of her heart! I was just flipping through it and there is a nice article on Using Media to Educate about Birth and what do you know? I’m listed right there! Thank you so much for noticing me! Read more
