Podcast Episode 1: Midwives

In this inaugural Podcast I will provide a brief overview of midwives available in the United States. In the posts and Podcasts of the future you will become an expert in the “alphabet soup” that define the many different types of midwives as well as their differences in services and scopes of practice.

Errata: Oops! This is what I get for Podcasting in the middle of the night ;) I misspoke when sharing that Direct-entry Midwives (DEMs) are legal in half of the states in the Union. More correctly: 24 states regulate DEMs by certification, licensing, or permit. 11 states prohibit the practice outright, while the remaining 15 either do not regulate it at all or it is legal but licensure is not available (”gray area states”).
