About Midwifery World

MidwiferyWorld is facilitated by Kris Bagiu, a California Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife. She is married to Mihai and they have four children: Gabriela, Mia, Jared, and Chloe. All of their children were born with midwife attendants in the hospital and at home.

The purpose of this Weblog, and associated Podcasts, is to provide information about the home birth option and midwives, the facilitators of home births. There may be references to hospital births and obstetricians since both may be a necessary involvement in birth whether it is a transfer of care during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum. I make no claims as to the comparative safety of planned home births to hospital birth as that is an educated decision each consumer must make for his and her family. The following list provides references to a few (North American) home birth studies– few because only a few studies on home births have been done.

When I share information on this blog and in Podcasts, I will be general as many practitioners are on their websites, Podcasts, and in the books they write. With several years behind me working as a birth professional I have heard, read, and experienced many things. While the birth experience is very individual, many births might include similar details (such as… we all have vaginas!). As a midwife I respect my client’s confidentiality and only my clients will share their personal details on this site and/or Podcast. If you are concerned something you’ve heard or read here pertains to you personally, please contact me immediately.

Any information you receive on this website is not to be construed as medical and/or midwifery advice. You are hereby charged with the responsibiity for seeking out consultations specific to your needs, rather than those generalized here.
